Update for February 2022

Dear Dancers,

The first month of the year has gone. It seems the community spread of COVID-19 is slowing down. However, we are still unsure what trend and change February brings as the schools go back in a week or so. The club committee has decided to wait further before we reconsider whether to resume our club activities.

Please be advised there will be no Practicas, Milonguitas or Milongas by the club until further notice.

The committee will reassess the situation in mid-February.

Be safe and stay healthy!

All the best,

Tomoko, Vice-president

Cancelled – All events in January

Dear Dancers,

I am disappointed to have to advise that Tasmanian Club de Tango will not be offering any Milongas, Milonguitas or Practicas in January 2022.

In view of the increasing community transition of COVID-19 the committee has decided that the responsible action for the Club is to suspend any further activities until further notice.

It appears inevitable that we will all eventually be exposed to this latest and fast spreading variant.  It has in fact already entered our Tango community and we wish those affected a speedy and full recovery.  It is appropriate that the Club takes steps not to create an opportunity to enhance this spread.

Some may have been willing to use the protective measures in place through public health directives and our COVID safety plan, but, whilst slowing the progress of the virus, it seems unlikely these would completely mitigate the risk of transition.  Given the significant impact this virus has to our health, our ability to work, our contact with family and friends we believe that it is in the best interests of the Club, our members and friends to completely suspend our activities and wait for a more suitable time to commence Tango in 2022.

We hope that this will be a short recess and that February will see us on the dance floor again.  We will continue to monitor the situation and the public health advice and be in touch when we are able.

For now, stay safe, stay in touch, and keep dancing whenever and however you can.

Cheers,

John, President
