There are some changes to our normal monthly schedule this November as there will be some extra events held by other organisers around Hobart.
There will be no FFM or MMM in November. Instead we are having a special milonga, which we named Milonga Beltane to welcome in the warming weather. In this milonga we are hosting Ben Renkin from Byron Bay as the night’s DJ.
Ben is coming down to Tassie to perform tango dances with Shan at a TSO’s concert “OBSCURA IV TANGO NUEVO” held at Odeon Theatre in Hobart on 17 November. For more info, visit TSO’s website.
Enjoy the night with fellow dancers. BYO nibble and drinks as usual.

Club members are reminded that the Annual General Meeting is to be held before the October Mid Month Milonga this coming Saturday. AGM starts from 7:00pm and Milonga from 8:00pm. Non-members are also welcome to attend the meeting as observers.
We would like to propose a theme for this milonga night. It is “mariposa” (butterfly). The butterfly is a colourful and seasonal subject. You may like to wear something related to butterflies, or just to be colourful like a butterfly…
Mariposa means a beautiful young woman. Mariposas who work at night and live a sad life often appear in tango. Those who admired them were saddened and suffered helplessly for them.
yo sé que ayer fuiste hermosa;
yo con tus alas de rosa
te vi volar mariposa
y después te vi caer...
Moneda de fango,
¡Qué bien bailabas el tango!...
¡Qué linda estabas entonces,
como una reina de bronce,
allá en el "Folies Berger".
Aquel barrio triste de barro y de latas
igual que tu vida desapareció...
Pasaron veinte años, querida mulata,
no existen tus padres, no existe el farol.
Quizás en la esquina te quedes perdida
buscando la casa que te vio nacer;
seguí, no te pares, no muestres la herida...
No llores mulata, total, ¡para qué!
