The October Tango Weekend is this year’s major event by Tasmanian Club de Tango. We will showcase Tasmania’s local talents who will lead three workshops. Three milongas including traditional Gala at Hobart’s historic Town Hall will be held to enjoy these special occasions.

Milonga 1 – “First Friday Milonga”
- Dare: Friday, 1st October
- Time: 8:00 pm to late
- Venue: St Francis Xavier’s Church Hall, corner of Adelaide & Anglesea Streets, South Hobart
- Cost: Members $25, Non-members $30
Milonga 2 – “Gala Milonga”
- Date: Saturday, 2nd October
- Time: 8:00 pm to late
- Venue: Hobart Town Hall, 50 Macquarie St., Hobart
- Cost: Members $35, Non-members $40
Gala Milonga is the main event of the weekend. It will include the exhibition of some tango performances. Spectator tickets ($10) are available. Please see below.
Milonga 3 – “Matinee Milonga”
- Date: Sunday, 3rd October
- Time: 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm
- Venue: Moonah Multicultural Hub, 65 Hopkins St., Moonah

Workshops: Four workshops are offered – Cost: Members $25 Non-members $30
Workshop A – “Individual Technique”
Exercises and a simple routine to learn individual technique for balance, posture, pivot and disassociation.

Workshop B – “Dancing to D’Arienzo’s Orchestra”
Learn the characteristics of Juan D’Arienzo’s Orchestra, making your movement sharp, dynamic and stylish.

Workshop C – “Exploring the Voleo in Open and Close Embrace”

Workshop D – “From beginner to addict”
An alternative approach to turning beginner dancers into Tango addicts, from beginners to viejos milongueros.
