COVID-19 Update

I hope you are all well and surviving these challenging and interesting times.

The committee has not decided when to restart our Tango activities as yet. Even when indoor gatherings are allowed, the 1.5 meter rule is expected to remain, meaning we cannot dance in pairs. One option may be to consider classes for solo drills if there is sufficient demand and would like to hear your view.

A couple of recent decisions the committee have made relate to the timing of the AGM and membership fees. The date of the AGM is yet to be set, but is planned to occur in September this year.

The committee has agreed to make a temporary arrangement for memberships between 01/07/2020 and 31/10/2020. This arrangement is to extend current financial memberships until 31/10/2020 with no new payment, and to offer current non-members new short-term memberships until 31/10/2020 for $10 payable in July-August. The membership will provide you with the voting rights at the AGM and eligibility for committee membership and office bearer positions for those who are interested.

The committee is planning to conduct a survey soon to obtain everyone’s input regarding the club’s future activities. We will let you know when the survey is ready.

Stay safe and stay tuned.

Cheers,
John Rallings
Interim President
Tasmanian Club de Tango

Bush Fire Relief update

Thank you very much to all dancers, spectators and stall-sale donors who attended First Friday Milonga held as Bush Fire Relief fundraiser on 7 February. The club raised more than $900, actually very close to $1000. We have donated a round up figure of $1000 to Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal.

We would like to express our special thanks to St Francis Xavier Church for donating the use of hall for us.
